The state consumer commission ruled against Oriental Insurance for rejecting a mediclaim on the grounds of pre-existing conditions. Anshul Garg had filed a claim for his father’s cardiac surgery, which was denied. The commission concluded that there was no credible evidence of illness concealment and directed the insurer to pay Rs 2 lakh plus interest.
