Once an idyllic town, now a valley of death & destruction

Chooralmala village in Wayanad experienced a devastating landslide that buried rows of houses under mud, rock, and debris. The Punnapuzha river expanded from 40 to over 400 metres in width, flattening homes, a school, a temple, and more. The disaster led to extensive damage, leaving houses filled with sludge and debris, and a bridge washed away.
